We Get Letters!

We received several emails from our clinic attendees.  I wanted to share them with you here.  I have edited a few messages in order to provide greater clarity, but I try never to tamper with the emotion or intent of the original message.

Dave,

I truly felt like the open house was wonderful for a number of reasons.

  1. You fixed my computer so I could give it to my mom to use. In the process, you answered a lot of questions that I had about tech stuff that will help me out.
  2. I learned about your organization and thought all that I met were great.
  3. It was fun to mix with people of all ages and to see everyone in the tech community charged up.
  4. I was glad I had brought my old DRAMs and was glad that some could be used ASAP.
  5. The hot dogs and people working out front were also great.
  6. I'd like to spend more time and help when you do it again.

Thanks, M. M.

Dear Doc,

I had such a great time.

The people working on the computers didn't realize it, but they gave such great tips as they were talking and working at the same time.

Everybody was so happy-go-lucky. The hot dogs were so great, my boyfriend almost ate 3!

Unfortunately, after all the time spent on my computer and later at Dennis Schulman's house, I still was not able to access the Internet.

Sunday, my hard drive was reformatted and by 2 a.m. this morning I am finally on the Internet after not having internet for the last 3 months -----Yeah.

A lot of spyware was on that computer from my daughter downloading from Kazaa.  I hope the computer club will visit me in jail after I get arrested! (Doc's comment: She no longer has Kazaa.)

I am sooooo thankful for everyone helping me with this problem.

Thank You, F. R.

Wonderful.

It was my first clinic. Even though you couldn't address my problem
because it is in the motherboard, you were able to answer all of my other questions. I was looking for a clinic like this for a couple of years.

Don't stop. It was a great effort by all.

Thank you. S. M.

It was very obvious to me that many hours of prep work had gone into this RAK clinic. I'm very grateful to the entire crew for offering their skills, time, and energy to this effort.

For me, 'rescuing' the data on my hard drive is going to be a major relief. I didn't back up ALL of my data, from sheer stupidity as well as so many family crises life-hitting-the-fan moments, so finding a way to retrieve it, especially after a costly and frustrating attempt by a "professional" computer shop, is a gift, indeed!

Thank you! M. M.

Hello there!

You all went above and beyond to fix the many ills of our hard drive. We
are so very grateful for each person's time and effort. Jack [Kinney] was
"hands-on" with us and was wonderful. But many on-lookers shared their
expertise and never even flinched with our multitude of problems. Then, to add icing to the cake—there were donuts (yum!), and even later, hot dogs because we were there so long.

We do practice RAK but have rarely experienced the dedication to this that TBCS shared with us.

Thank you all. K. M.

Dear Mr. Dockery:

What an elucidating experience attending and participating in your computer clinic last Saturday. We enjoyed it and certainly enjoyed it a lot.  R.A. (a friend) will let us know of your next meeting so that we can attend a pre class school and the meeting to see if we want to continue.... I must say, it certainly looks exciting.

Thank you again. M. B.

Dear Doc,

I was glad to attend the meeting of RAK not only to fix the problem with the computer but also to see old friends as well. Although you thought that the problem with my computer was the fruit of my imagination, I walked out enriched. For the first time, I used Windows Update which took for one of my computers more than 2 hours to complete with very encouraging results. Neither I, nor my guru friends were able to fix the trouble with my scanner which went on strike, but Windows Update did the trick—hurrah!

And thank you once more. L. W.

Hi Doc,

I just wanted to tell you thanks for helping me with that Dumaru virus. The disc that you made for me last Saturday worked just like you said. It took about 3 minutes and was GONE. Again a BIG THANKS.

Dear Dave:

Was a half hour late for the appointment because my friend and I lost our way coming up from Treasure Island. Then, when we were told there would be wait of about a half hour, went out back and had an interesting conversation with Mr. Vern Goheen.

Next thing you know, I was called up front to be told by Ron Regan that my computer probably needed a new motherboard because it refused to boot up. Appreciated very much the evaluation.
